You are fortunate if you have seen a luna moth. They are quite rare as they live for only a few days. They have no mouth; their only purpose is to procreate. Their elongated wings disrupt the sonar of bats, their primary predator. This moth seems to take a moment to admire the picturesque mountains of Western North Carolina during its fleeting life.
